Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Could Feature Large Book-Style Screens, Leaked Display Specs Suggest

Apple is expected to be working on a foldable iPhone. Last week, tipster Digital Chat Station shared display details of Apple’s much-anticipated foldable device. Earlier leaks suggested that Apple might opt for a flip-style foldable iPhone instead of a horizontal fold.

However, more recent leaks indicate that the company is now focusing on launching a book-style foldable phone. In a new Weibo post today, the tipster revealed that Apple will take a distinct approach with its upcoming foldable iPhone.

In a recent Weibo post, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the prototype Apple is currently testing includes a 5.49-inch outer screen and a 7.74-inch inner display. These dimensions make it significantly smaller compared to other foldable devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The leak suggests that the outer display resembles the original Find N but is shorter and wider. Once unfolded, the device transforms into a mini-tablet experience with a generous 7.74-inch inner display, comparable to a compact iPad. Both screens are expected to feature a distinct aspect ratio that hasn’t been seen on other foldable devices before.

The leaker further hinted in the comments that Apple intends to “reshape the foldable ecosystem,” signaling a potential new direction for foldable technology.

Apple is likely to introduce a new design for the iPhone 17 series, expected to launch in September 2025. The iPhone 17 Pro may feature a rectangular camera module with three cameras on the left and an LED flash along with sensors on the right, as per a render shared by FrontPageTech.

There is speculation that Apple could apply a similar design to its upcoming foldable iPhone to maintain a consistent aesthetic across its lineup. The foldable iPhone is expected to launch in 2026, though its official name remains undisclosed.
