Apple’s Foldable iPhone Set To Break The Bank; Expected To Cost Double That Of iPhone 16 Pro Max
Apple is reportedly working on its first-ever foldable device, though the company has yet to confirm any official details. As the tech world waits in anticipation, new reports have surfaced that give us a peek into what could become one of Apple’s priciest smartphones. The foldable iPhone, still shrouded in mystery, is expected to carry a hefty price tag and may launch sometime in the near future.
According to Tim Long, a Barclays analyst, the foldable iPhone could start at around $2,300 (roughly Rs. 1,99,000) in the U.S. If these rumors prove true, this would make the foldable model almost twice as expensive as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199 (roughly Rs. 1,00,700) for the base 256GB storage variant. Given the high price, Apple is likely to release a limited quantity, aiming for a more exclusive audience.

For some perspective, foldable devices from other brands, like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 ($1,899 / Rs. 1,64,300) and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold ($1,799 / Rs. 1,55,000), are already commanding premium prices. But Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to go even further, positioning itself as a top-tier product with cutting-edge features to match its steep price tag.
Reports suggest that the foldable iPhone will adopt a book-style design, featuring a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer cover display. One key feature that could set it apart is its near-crease-free display, which would be a significant achievement in foldable technology. Interestingly, Apple might skip Face ID and opt for a side-mounted Touch ID sensor instead, possibly to maintain a sleek, seamless design.
When it comes to its physical dimensions, the foldable iPhone is expected to measure 9.2mm thick when folded and only 4.6mm when opened. These measurements would make it impressively slim for a foldable device. The design is also rumored to feature a sturdy aluminum alloy middle frame, adding to the device’s premium feel. Additionally, the iPhone could pack a dual rear camera setup and a 5,000mAh battery, ensuring that it doesn’t just look impressive but also performs well.
Though Apple has kept its foldable plans under wraps, the device is expected to hit the market sometime between late 2026 and early 2027. Fans of the brand are no doubt excited to see how Apple will approach the foldable phone market, hoping for an innovative product that lives up to the company’s reputation for premium devices.
