One of the largest reveals made here is that the SD (Super Deformed) Gundam units—which were previously CPU-exclusive in Gundam Breaker 3—have been added to the list of parts that players can use to customize their own units. Other than that, this game will also allow them to scale the size of any parts, including the foundational body parts and the optional Builder Parts.

The Japanese release date trailer also revealed five new units that will join the roster:

  1. XVX-016 Gundam Aerial (from The Witch From Mercury)
  2. MD-0064 Darilbalde (from The Witch From Mercury)
  3. MSB-GH03 Gundam Helios (from Gundam Breaker Battlogue)
  4. RX-105 Xi Gundam (from Hathaway’s Flash movie)
  5. RX-93ff Nu Gundam with Long-Range Fin Funnel (from Char’s Counterattack MSV – based on the life-sized statue adaptation in Fukuoka)

Bandai Namco also updated the game’s Japanese official website with a full list of Gunpla kits that will be available at launch. We have previously compiled a list of kits that have been featured in the series’ prior console entries, and we shall also make another list of the remaining new units that were not seen in prior console entries. We also include Super Fumina here, since she only appeared as a giant boss in New Gundam Breaker and was not available in the assembly list.

  1. OZ-06MS Leo (from Gundam Wing)
  2. ZGMF-1017 GINN (from Gundam SEED)
  3. ZGMF-1017 GINN with Triple Missile Pods (from Gundam SEED)
  4. ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior (from Gundam SEED Destiny)
  5. ZGMF-1000/A1 Gunner ZAKU Warrior (from Gundam SEED Destiny)
  6. ZGMF-X20A-PF Gundam Perfect Strike Freedom (from Gundam Breaker Battlogue)
  7. XXXG-01L2 Gundam Livelance Heaven (from Gundam Breaker Battlogue)
  8. SF-01 Super Fumina (from Gundam Build Fighters Try)
  9. HER-SELF Mobile Doll May (from Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE)
  10. HER-SELF Mobile Doll May Real Version (from Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE)

Bandai Namco first published the release date announcement trailer via a live stream that was broadcast worldwide via YouTube’s Japanese Gundam Channel. This stream also covered gameplay changes that will be made based on user feedback from the closed beta test version.

One of the most notable aspects testers encountered in the closed beta was the skill cooldown timer that would apply to all skills in the player’s units. The developer team has since confirmed that they will change it back to individual skill-based like in Gundam Breaker 3, with an exception for multiple skills based on the same part.

You can find the archive of the aforementioned stream & English release date trailer right below. The release date trailer appears at the end of the stream. Gundam Breaker 4 will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Calling all ace pilots and master builders: Gundam Breaker 4, the first numbered entry of the fan-favorite mech series in more than six years, launches globally on August 29. The game focuses on a cycle of Break, Build and Battle, where players will use Gunpla (Gundam Plastic models) of their own creation to fight enemies comprised of more than 250 mobile suits in the game. Collect loot by breaking off pieces during combat, then use those pieces to build new, more powerful hybrid creations using the game’s customization options in order to take on more difficult challenges. The newly announced Digital Deluxe and Digital Ultimate versions of the game, which provide early mobile suit unlocks and other digital goodies, are available now for pre-order on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. The game is also available on Nintendo Switch, where preorders will begin soon.

Details of the Digital Editions:

  • Digital Deluxe Edition – This version includes the base game, early unlocks to parts from 15 “hero” mobile suits spanning iconic series including Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans, Turn A Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, and others. Also included are five story mission packs with new mobile suits and Digital Deluxe exclusive parts featuring the Gundam Breaker 4 hero mobile suit and the Gunbarrel Strike Gundam (Gundam Breaker Ver.).
  • Digital Ultimate Edition – Includes everything in the Digital Deluxe Edition as well as a Diorama Pack with additional creative elements, as well as the Diorama Pack Bonus, which includes Gundam Breaker Easels and Posters.

As a reminder, physical pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game (including the Collector’s Edition) will receive the Launch Edition, which includes reversible cover art and an exclusive 11”x17” poster.

In Gundam Breaker 4, as an aspiring Gunpla hobbyist, players will be able to mesh together their own mecha creations by using parts from more than 250 iconic Mobile Suits from throughout the Gundam series, and then test their creations on a virtual battlefield with up to 3 players in co-op multiplayer. Fight through missions to hack, slash and shoot through hordes of enemy mechs, breaking off their parts to collect and upgrade builds. Gundam Breaker 4 introduces an all-new feature to the series, where players will be able to use two different weapons for unique combos in their quest for the best parts to build the perfect Gunpla. In between battles, players access a robust mecha garage where they can customize their creations with new parts as well as paint, decals, and weathering to make the ultimate mecha expression for Gundam fans.

Once players finish building their Gunpla, they have the option to bring it into a wide variety of both offline and online missions. Take down bosses or take on hordes of enemy mecha to gain new parts and equip new skills. Another brand-new feature unique to Gundam Breaker 4 is diorama mode. Construct elaborate scenarios with a variety of backgrounds, environmental elements, and special effects, then place any Gunpla creations capture the perfect pose with highly articulable models.
