Notably, four out of the top five smartphones hailed from Apple’s latest lineup, solidifying its dominance in the market. In a significant first, all handsets in the top 10 list were 5G capable, reflecting the industry’s evolving technological landscape.

Counterpoint Research’s latest Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker highlights Apple’s strong performance, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and standard iPhone 15 securing the top two spots. Moreover, all four models from Apple’s latest lineup clinched positions within the top 10, with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Plus securing notable ranks.

Samsung Holds Its Ground

Meanwhile, Samsung maintained a strong presence with five smartphones in the top 10 list. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra emerged as the company’s top-selling handset, followed by the Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A54. The standard Galaxy S24 and Galaxy A34 also made their mark, showcasing Samsung’s diverse product offerings.

Counterpoint attributes Apple’s success to the superior hardware and innovative features offered by the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Notable upgrades such as the new Action button, A17 Pro chip, telephoto camera, and titanium body appealed to consumers, driving demand for high-end models.

Similarly, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series introduced advanced generative AI (GenAI) features, including Circle to Search and real-time translation for calls, enhancing user experience and contributing to the company’s sales performance. As customers increasingly prioritize premium features, the market is poised for further innovation and competition in the smartphone segment.
