Maximize Your iPhone Battery: Essential Tips Straight From Apple

If you’ve noticed your iPhone’s battery running out faster than usual or its overall capacity dropping below 90 per cent, it might be time to give your device some extra care. According to Apple, taking steps to maintain both battery health and lifespan can significantly improve your iPhone’s battery performance.

Understanding Battery Life and Lifespan

Battery Life: This refers to the duration your device can run before needing a recharge.

Battery Lifespan: This indicates the overall time your battery lasts until it requires replacement.

To help you make the most of your iPhone’s battery, here are five tips recommended by Apple.

Keep Your iPhone iOS Updated

Regularly updating your iPhone with the latest iOS version is crucial. These updates not only introduce new features but also include important fixes that can impact battery life. By staying up to date, you can optimize battery performance and overall device efficiency.

Maintain Optimal Temperature

iPhones operate best within a specific temperature range (16° to 22°C or 62° to 72°F). Extreme temperatures, especially above 35°C (95°F), can damage battery capacity. Conversely, very cold environments may temporarily reduce battery life. Keeping your device within the ideal temperature range helps preserve battery health.

Remove the Case While Charging

Certain phone cases can trap heat during charging, negatively affecting battery health. If your device heats up during charging, consider removing it from its case. This allows heat to dissipate more efficiently, preserving the battery’s health and longevity.

Maintain Battery Level When Not in Use

When storing your iPhone for an extended period, aim for around 50 per cent battery charge before powering it down. Storing with a fully charged or fully discharged battery can harm lifespan. Additionally, store the device in a cool, dry environment and recharge it to 50 per cent every six months if stored for more than six months.

Activate Low Power Mode

Enable Low Power Mode, available since iOS 9, to conserve battery life and optimize performance. This feature reduces display brightness, minimizes animations, and disables background app refresh to save power. It activates automatically at 20 per cent battery level and can be manually toggled in Settings > Battery.

Keep in mind that some background operations are temporarily disabled to conserve battery power when Low Power Mode is active.

By following these tips, you can help extend the lifespan of your iPhone’s battery and ensure optimal performance over time.
