TRAI DND App To Achieve Device Compatibility Milestone By 2024; All You Need To Know

TRAI is on a mission to fine-tune its ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) app, a vital tool empowering mobile users to swiftly combat annoying calls and texts. TRAI Secretary V Raghunandan, speaking at a Truecaller event, revealed the agency’s proactive approach to resolve technical glitches by diligently working on bug fixes within the DND app.

Raghunandan discussed the technical challenges surrounding the DND app during a Truecaller event, shedding light on TRAI’s proactive efforts to tackle these issues. A recent report indicates that TRAI has enlisted the expertise of an external agency to address identified bugs in the DND app. Notably, concerns related to the DND app on specific Android smartphones have been largely resolved, with ambitions to achieve universal compatibility by March 2024.

However, it’s important to note that the TRAI DND app currently faces limitations on iPhones, attributed to Apple’s restrictions on call log access. This unique hurdle adds a layer of complexity to the app’s compatibility, particularly on Apple devices.

It has been reported that TRAI is actively working on making the DND app compatible with iOS devices, although no specific timeline has been provided. Furthermore, Raghunandan noted a significant decrease in unwanted calls and texts in India, crediting improvements in the DND app for this positive trend.

Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi shared that the app has over 270 million active users in India, reporting around 5 million spam calls daily. Anticipating enhanced compatibility for the TRAI DND app, there is an optimistic outlook for further reducing spam calls in the future.
