‘Weren’t Allowed To Leave Room Without Agreeing To Resign’ Techies Reveal How TCS Is Laying Off 12,000 For AI

One of the Top 10 Companies to Work for in India in 2025, according to LinkedIn, Tata Consultancy Services, or TCS has traditionally been considered to be a safe haven in the Indian IT sector.

The Tata-owned tech firm recently announced job cuts affecting over 12,000 employees globally as it deploys AI at scale. The company in its earlier statement remarked that the layoffs will be done in a humane manner. However, an anonymous techie revealed to The News Minute (TNM) the underbelly of Indian IT, stating how the company is scaring especially the freshers to quit. The techie who is in mid-management designation at TCS quipped,

They offered three months’ pay as an incentive to resign. But if someone refuses, they’re told they’ll be terminated without compensation and won’t receive a relieving letter.”

TNM further reports that two employees who were asked to resign were asked to switch off their mobile phones and keep them on a table before a meeting with HR. The techies revealed, “During this meeting, they will try their best to convince us to resign. We are not allowed to leave the room or speak to anyone without agreeing to resign.”

Per a TCS techie in the Bengaluru office alone, more than 300 have resigned, with around 50 tendering resignations on a daily basis.
