Bill Gates Believe AI Will Reduce Working Hours To 3 Days A Week; The Internet Says ‘Paychecks Are Gonna Suck Too’

AI is trending hot, and unlike NFTs and Metaverse from 2022, the phenomenon is going to stay. Beyond the euphoric excitement of AI among the Silicon Valley tech conglomerates, there’s skepticism and an industry of gloom taking over. With corporations downsizing the organization to deploy more AI tools and operators, there’s growing concern about ‘em bots replacing jobs. Will they? Here’s what Bill Gates said during his conversation with comedian Trevor Noah on the What Now Podcast. When asked if AI will threaten jobs, the co-founder of Microsoft remarked that ‘if you get a society with three days of work a week eventually, then probably that’s okay.’ (paraphrased) Gates speculated of a world where machines would do ‘all the food and stuff’ and people wouldn’t have to resort to a five-day work week to earn their livelihood. During the podcast, the billionaire philanthropist also stated that the impact of AI won’t be as dramatic as the industrial revolution.

So will a three-day work week become the norm in the near future? Reactions poured in: One user jibed, ‘Never going to happen; it would threaten middle management and recruiting/HR too deeply to actually occur.’

Another user asked, ‘Will the Azure-hosted machine gods pay us wages for those three days?’

Those paychecks are gonna suck too’ opined one.

Another user asks if the AI god will allow us to eat during the three-day work week.

One user took potshots at Gates’ prophecy. He asked, ‘What about the rest of the time screwing around on social media or creating problems in society?

He does not plan on paying you for the days you are not working, though’ a user slammed Gates (and his ilk).

One user believes that the AI will eventually replace the majority of basic jobs, from fast food workers to grocery workers to even taxi drivers.

Another thinks that the AI is not yet capable of physical work. So maybe the inevitable is a bit delayed, then?

Lets just never leave the house ever, never make friends and get fatter,’ a twitterati’s scathing comments are likely to be true in the near future.

Easy for him; he’s a billionaire,’ remarked another.

Wondering though what would become of Mr. Narayana Murthy’s pursuit of excellence with a 70 hours work week?
